Step One: Check your
connection to your new web site for the first time.
Do this Once or as a troubleshooting measure.
- Dial-up your Internet
Service Provider and listen to make sure your modem
connects.
- Open FrontPage Explorer.
- Select File, Open
FrontPage Web.
- Click in the box More
Webs and type your IP address as written above
followed by a carriage return after clicking in the
box that says Web Server or File Location.
- Click on List Webs.
- Click on <Root
Web>
- Click on OK.
- Enter your userid and
password.
- At this point, you should
see your empty web site with this welcome page.
Step Two:
Copying your local web site to the server.
- Start FrontPage Explorer.
- Select File Open FrontPage
Web from FrontPage. Retrieve and select a local copy of
your web site. Leave the box checked, "Open an
Existing FrontPage Web". Using, the
little down arrow next to the box select your local
computer name. Once you have your
local server selected, press the Ok Button.
- Now, use your modem to
dial up like your going to "surf" the Internet.
- Switch back to FrontPage
Explorer. Once your local web site comes up, select the Publish
FrontPage Web command From File.
- Next select the More Webs
button. Click in the white box and type the IP
Address as shown above then press the OK button
- Next under Destination Web
Name, erase everything in the box. The
box should be empty. Select the Option
"Add to an existing web". Select the Option,
"Change existing pages only".
- Press the OK button.
- Wait.
- Now start Netscape or
Internet Explorer or some other local browser and press
the OPEN button.
- Type-http://"Web
ADDRESS ABOVE" and press OK.Step Two:

Step Three:
Modifying web pages in the future- Import Web
Just re-publish your web site as in Step Two Above but select
an already existing location to publish to.
- Start FrontPage Explorer.
- Select File Open FrontPage
Web from FrontPage. Retrieve and select a local copy of
your web site. Leave the box checked, "Open an
Existing FrontPage Web". Using, the
little down arrow next to the box select your local
computer name. Once you have your
local server selected, press the Ok Button.
- Now, use your modem to
dial up like your going to "surf" the Internet.
- Switch back to FrontPage
Explorer. Once your local web site comes up, select the Publish
FrontPage Web command From File.
- Select the location that
corresponds to our server location. This will be the
IP address initially but eventually will be your domain
name. Make sure the box labeled "Copy changed
pages only" has been checked then click OK.

FrontPage 97:
Step One: Check your

Step Three:
Modifying web pages in the future- Import Web
Once you web site is up and running you can continue to use
the "Publish FrontPage Web". However, you should
make sure that the box labeled "Change existing pages
only" has a check mark in it. If you have changed only a
few pages, it will take less time to use the Import function.
To use the import function, follow the directions below.
- Start FrontPage Explorer.
- Now, use your modem to
dial up like your going to "surf" the Internet.
- Select File Open from
FrontPage. Retrieve and select your remote web site from
our web server. Click in the field marked Web Server and
type your IP address as shown above. Then hit the carriage
return key.
- Select the web <Root
Web> and then the OK button.
- Enter your userid and
Password then press OK.
- Switch back to FrontPage
Explorer.
- Next select File and
Import from the File menu. Click the Add File button in
the dialog box. Find the file you want to import from your
local hard disk. Select each file by
holding down the shift key while pressing the left mouse
button. Using this technique you can select multiple
files. You can also select a range of files by pressing on
the top file, then pressing on the bottom file while
HOLDING DOWN THE SHIFT KEY. Finally press the Open button
when you have selected all of the files.
- Press the OK button when
you are done selecting files.
- If everything goes right,
this will import web pages from your computer up to your
web site.

Step Three:
